Peter Viksnins’s Bio

After graduating from Temple Univ. with a major in biology, I went to Temple Medical, graduating in 1970.

I married Mara, the love of my life (and still is) in 1968.She helped put me thru med school.
I did a straight medicine internship at Brooke Army Med. Center in San Antonio, Texas and then was lucky enough to be assigned to Germany rather than Nam.

We spent 3 years in Europe doing General Medical Officer duties and  traveling as much as we could afford.. My first daughter, Kristine, was born in Landstuhl Germany.

In 1974 I returned to the US and did a Dermatology residency at Geisinger Med Ctr in Danville, Pa.
I took a job in the Derm Dept. at the Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola Florida (a 70 physician group at that time)—started in Oct 1977 and retired at the end of 2005. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career. We moved to Destin Florida in 2005. This is a fantastic resort community with white beaches and is known as “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”. I love to fish and belong to a fishing club with 60 members.

Since retiring I have also  gotten into gourmet cooking, playing more bridge,  traveling and visiting our grandchildren. My daughters live in Silver Spring MD and New Canaan CT. My son lives in Asheville, NC
My wife is an active artist and belongs to 2 galleries in Pensacola. She just won two “Best of Show” awards to make us all proud.

Life is good.
